Please classify my grandfather

I'm Danish and so is all of my father's side of the family.

My grandfather (mother's father) had a Danish mother, but he never knew his father and neither does anyone else in my family. My grandfather does not live anymore and neither does his mother who might have been the only one who knew who his father was.

We are very curious where he may have had roots from, as all of his four children are quite dark skinned compared to the average Danish/Scandinavian person. He also looked very tanned himself.

There is a lot of words and terms on this page that I don't understand, so please let me know what nationality you think his father may have had. His mother was very regularly scandinavian looking.

Your grandfather's looks does not strike me as typically Danish, but the image is old and of low detail. As for classifiction, I'm probably not the best one to ask. I'd venture a guess and say Alpinid...
