They are from Nottingham in the East Midlands and Clermont-Ferrand in the Auvergne. What similarities and differences in phenotype do you see between them? I am only posting the fully native ones in both cases.

Nottingham, Central England

Quite similar.
British series has more lepto -lighter types

The French series is an ORGY of low square shaped faces.
The alpine elemnt is surprisingly strong.

However the overlap is present.
Englishwould pass in French series

More familiar Yes. But the french would overall look atypical in Italy
That could pass in Italy more or less well:

Many if not most of the French on this set would not pass or be extremely atypical in Britain. On a indiviual basis the Brits would pass better in France but as a whole there are considerable difference and I don't think the sets look similar at all

I do agree that anthrofora tend to Nordify the native French to an extent, often in order to distance them from Southern Italians (in this forum) or Spaniards (in Italic Roots).

The French overlaps more with Iberians than with English in my opinion..

The French councillors appear more Alpinized and somewhat more pigmented than the English ones.

Outside France, the French councillors pass best in Central Europe and North Italy. The English councillors pass best in Scandinavia and Benelux (ouside the British Isles).

I find those French to look more Iberian rather than Italian, for some reason. But I think they pass fine as dark Brits.

The main difference to me is some of the English look like Swedes or Danes, I do not find this in the French photos.

But who looks more Italian: the French people here or the Assyrians you just posted? (The fact we are even having this debate is risible in itself).

Would say the French lot are a little more exotic than the English bunch - who are more homogeneous.

Contrary to what some of my earlier posts might have suggested, I am not saying that British and French people look totally different, but nevertheless there is a clear difference especially at group level. Britain has more Nordic/Germanic strains than France, while France has more Mediterranean, Alpine and Dinaric strains than Britain.

Yes you can clearly see Med influence in a few in the French group. The English lot really are typical Anglo Saxons. Not the prettiest faces in the world, but there you go..

Put simply: British look NW European but with more brunettes compared to Scandinavians, Germans and Dutch. French look like a roughly 50/50 hybrid of both Northern and Southern Europe.

Leptoprosopic types are more common among the English.

Also, the English display more Borreby traits while the French have stronger Dinaric and Alpine element.

Auvergne is genetically not very different from Languedoc, even Dauphiné area has more northern influence.

Bourgogne and Centre region are more representative of the average.

I think he'd pass more in Southern and Western Germany, Switzerland, Austria than Britain anyday. He's darker-skinned type for Brits, more Alpinid than anything with some Dinarid attributes. Although, he could blend with Northern Italians.

What did you expect? France, Belgium and a good part of Germany not the North lays much more south than Britain. This is why they'd have more Alpine, Dinarid, Mediterranean, darker skin especially and darker eyes too ( the French especially).
