Mainstream "progressive" media as CNN are always portraying gypsies as victims and east european natives as heartless ethnocentrists. The way I see it is a bit different. Without generalize or label them gypsies just don't care about the world around them, they keep focusing on their immediate basic needs and govern themselves by a peculiar set of rules and "laws" in total ignorance and disregarding the law of the land where they lived for centuries. I feel a sort of empathy for some, but every attempt to integrate them, or help them, besides give them charity just failed. Should I feel guilty or embarrassment for their situation they put themselves in and don't want to change it?
