April 5th was the 25th anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death. When I was 7, I was a rap fan, I hadn't gotten seriously into music until I was 10. My first ex-girlfriend remembered where she was when she heard the news of Kurt's death. I watched a video about the suicide recently and I was bummed out for a few days afterward. I had the song, "Something in the Way" stuck in my head for two days. Just thinking about how much Kurt had going for him, millions of dollars, adoring fans, immortal music, a WIFE, a DAUGHTER. With his death, he let MILLIONS of people down. It was a terrible waste of creative energy. I believe every individual has the sovereign right to decide when to end their own life. No one has the right to make that decision for them, BUT he wasn't terminally ill, he wasn't 90 years old and decrepit, he didn't have a debilitating disease, this man was in top form. He could've hiked his ass to a fancy rehab in California with water therapy and horse back riding, and all that shit, kicked the habit, and gotten clean, but instead he wasted what was left of his life. He would've been 52 years old today if he had lived. It makes me right sick. And then to read about this turkey, Chester Bennington, with 6, count 'em 6! children, hanging himself. I simply have no words.
