In Pakistan a leading newspaper, the Pakistan Daily, has called upon Pakistanis living in the North West of England to register to vote so that they will be able to use it in the European Elections. Under the headline “Register to vote or this racist BNP man Nick Griffin gets elected”, the newspaper makes it very clear that it is trying to assemble a fifth column of Pakistani immigrants which will be able to use its electoral clout to undermine the votes of British people living in the North West Euro Constituency.

Not unexpected, but still frighteningly underhanded. Pakistanis, based in Pakistan, are now beginning to rally their Britain-based friends and relatives to vote against the BNP. They're actually going to lengths to influence the vote of another country and undermine the wishes of the host people.

Does this worry you?

I must admit, I see it as cause for concern, simply because the Pakistani people are very community-centred, and have a sense of duty that often exceeds that of white British people. They will listen to this call and likely heed it. Will we? :(

Yes, it does. Very much so.

One more hurdle to overcome. Nearly there.

I doubt we will. The majority of people would pretend to know everything about politics in a pub conversation, but when it comes to voting they just don't care.

As far as the Pakistanis are concerned, they would never vote for the BNP anyway, but them voting for any party already dilutes the BNP vote. Luckily it does not specify whether to vote for Labour, Tories, LibDems or some other parties. :D

The emphasis for concern is more to do with the en-masse urge to vote and not allow the BNP to succeed, rather than allow them to waste the chance to vote.
Whereas someone may not have voted before, may vote having heard "the call" to do so.

Yes. To balance the apathy of many white British voters, we require a similar apathy among immigrant voters. If apathetic immigrant voters are being called to action, and heeding it, we need to encourage the same among apathetic British voters. Obviously, there are a large number of British voters who will also cast an arbitrary anti-BNP vote (ironically, giving it to a genuinely fascist party like Labour), but nevertheless, if every alienated Brit, who has lost faith in the mainstream parties voted, the BNP would see enormous success - even if all Pakistanis cast a retaliatory vote for Labour.
