Alawites, like the Druzes, are an isolated sect of Shia Islam. Likewise, they don’t accept converts so they have been very endogamous. Some people claim they have interesting looks.

They resemble 2000+ year old Levantine populations

Some form of Med.+ Armenid strain, maybe Litorid? Very Levantine, though.

East Meds mostly, with some Armenid and Taurid influence.

They look like Ashkenazim, and somewhat like Sicilians. They do not look very "Arab" at all.

Ashkenazis are a lot less Middle Eastern looking than you think.

They look pretty Levantine to me. 3alawis are genetically more Levantine than other Muslim groups of the Levant.

Not sure why this sprung to mind, but this to me is a very distinguishable Ashkenazi (I could tell in the first few seconds before they said her name):

These guys (mostly) look nothing like her.

They look pretty Levantine to me, and most of those people look closer to Afghans, Turks, and Persians than to any Europeans.

I see no Med in the photos, just Syrid phenotype

There is definitely a decent Med. contribution.

Sure, but isn't Syrid just Med+Armenoid - it's not pure Armenoid after all.

This set really does not look Ashkenazi or Sicilian at all. Look most similar to other Levantines. Taurid and Armenoid phenotypes dominate, with some East Med influence, although I don't find the East Med influence to be that large in this set. I've seen plenty of other Syrians who look strongly East Med though.

The Assads are strongly Dinaric. In the other pics we can pick Mediterranean- Orientalid mostly blends with Dinaric/Armenoid.

They look pretty Levantine/Assyrian to me.
