Why are Scythians still being associated with modern Europeans?

I am not saying that the Sarmatian Mongoloidity is a Turkic marker. Of course, the Sarmatians were Turkic peoples. I just say that some Scythians and Sarmatians possibly looked very eastern. I saw the article by a Russian anthropologist about some Sarmatian burial in European part of Russia. There were individuals having even 30–50–90% of craniological Mongoloidity.

Depends on the individual Scythian. The Scythians in Europe were definitely genetically very eastern European while those in Asia have significant east-Eurasian mongoloid admixture in them, especially the ones in Siberia. The Scythians were a diverse Iranic people, and being one has nothing to do with genetics or race whatsoever.

True, the original Scythian's were probably genetically similar to Bashkirs. But many Europeans joined the Scythians and adopted their culture and customs

The Scythians and Sarmatians are Slavic-speaking groups. The Eastern Scythians are quite mixed with Altai groups such as Turks, Mongols, Xianbei, Xiongnu and Rourans. That is why some eastern Scythians have Mongoloid impurities.
As the ancestor of the Scythians, Herodotus says that according to the Scythians themselves, they were the heirs of Targitai, who lived on the west bank of the Dnieper. Even the term Scythian itself is Indo-European and comes from Proto-Slavic: skitati "wander, nomad". 101063

Our results also confirm that at the Bronze and Iron Ages, south Siberia was a region of overwhelmingly predominant European settlement, suggesting an eastward migration of Kurgan people across the Russo-Kazakh steppe. Finally, our data indicate that at the Bronze and Iron Age timeframe, south Siberians were blue (or green)-eyed, fair-skinned and light-haired people and that they might have played a role in the early development of the Tarim Basin civilization. To the best of our knowledge, no equivalent molecular analysis has been undertaken so far.

Our results also confirm that at the Bronze and Iron Ages, south Siberia was a region of overwhelmingly predominant European settlement, suggesting an eastward migration of Kurgan people across the Russo-Kazakh steppe. Finally, our data indicate that at the Bronze and Iron Age timeframe, south Siberians were blue (or green)-eyed, fair-skinned and light-haired people and that they might have played a role in the early development of the Tarim Basin civilization. To the best of our knowledge, no equivalent molecular analysis has been undertaken so far.

What does Tarim have to do with Scythians? I've just shown you that Scythians from Krasnoyarsk were mostly blond, plus all contemporaries described Scythians as fair, including Europeans. At the very least they were much lighter than the Greeks who described them, and given the accumulated genetic and skeletal evidence they were probably as light as northern/central Europeans.

The idea that people like this were "Nordic" like central and northern Europeans seems bullshit to me, sorry if I speak French. These are traits that were romanticized both today and 2,000 years ago and most likely exaggerated. Everyone is free to believe what they like.
They were most likely not exaggerated as actual analysis of pigmentation loci in Scythian genomes showed, everything else is wishful thinking at best.

Anachronistic G25 models with bad fits aren't proof of anything, not even Davidski, the creator of the tool, uses this shit. Here are models for Krasnoyarsk Scythians using a serious tool that, unlike Global25, requires at least half a brain in order to be able to use it:

So Siberian Scythians were ~80% steppe IE, which is more than northern Europeans.

Racially the Scythians weren't as Nordic as modern central and northern Europeans, they were more Nordic than both. No need to guess, we have their skulls:

There is, in the anthropometric literature, sufficient data to permit the reconstruction of the Scytho-Sarmatian cranial type or types. The most extensive group, and that which may be used as a basic series, is Donici's collection of seventy-seven Scythian crania from kurgans of Bessarabia, which was one of the favored Scythian pasture lands during the height of their domination.57(See Appendix I, cot 37.) The fifty-seven male crania of this series are not homogeneous, but fall into two types, a long-headed and a round-headed, with the former greatly in the majority.

The means of these Scythian skulls show them to be low mesocephals of moderate cranial dimensions, but with a low vault height. The cranial means are, in fact, almost identical with those of the Keltic series from France and the British Isles. They resemble the Aunjetitz and Hallstatt skulls only as much as the Keltic series mentioned resemble these latter. They are, furthermore, metrically identical with the previously studied skulls from the Minussinsk region of southern Siberia, which may have been contemporaneous with them.

One of the peculiarities of the Scythian skulls is a low mesene upper facial index, lower than that of the Kelts or of the Minussinsk people. Donici has shown, however, that this low upper facial index is mostly associated with the brachycephalic element in the group, and the same is true of many of the chamaeconch and mesorrhine skulls. When the brachycephalic element is eliminated, therefore, one finds these skulls to be narrower faced, and narrower nosed, and to fit more nearly into a central European Nordic category. Other series of Scythian crania from southern Russia and from the Caucasus show the same general characteristics as that of Donici's type series, but are in most cases purely dolichocephalic, which leads one to suppose that the brachycephalic element in the Rumanian skulls may have been at least partly of local origin.58

Other collections of Scythian crania vary in their mean cranial indices from 72 to 77. Those from the Kiev government, a Scythian center, have a mean of 7359A series of eighteen Sarmatian crania from the Volga, although otherwise the same as the others, has a cranial index of 80.3.60However, one hesitates to consider this typical of the Sarmatians as a whole, since both the Alans61and the early Ossetes62were long headed. The former preserved the original Scythian Nordic type until the ninth century A.D.

Of especial interest is a rich kurgan in the Royal Scythian burial district,63near Alexandropol; this was one of the most imposing kurgans of Russia, not only for its size but for the quantities of gold placed with the dead king, and of animals sacrificed for his convenience. The kurgan contained five skulls in the primary interment; one of these was a large male of Corded type.64Another is a brachycephal with a vault especially wide behind, with a broad face and a narrow nose, resembling a Turkish or perhaps a Bell Beaker type; two are narrow skulls of the normal Scythian Nordic variety, while the fifth, that which occupied the king's chamber, is of moderate size, long headed, with a low vault, sloping forehead, a high, prominent nose, and wide flaring zygomatic arches. The malars are large, and there is, in this respect, a slight mongoloid suggestion. One may not, however, on this evidence alone, identify the Royal Clan with Turks or Mongols.

We know very little of the stature of the Scythians. Nine male skeletons from the Polish Ukraine, associated with crania of standard Scythian type, have a mean of over 170 cm.65

It is tempting to find the origin of the Scythians in the previous population of the southern Russian plain. A series of Bronze Age crania from the lower Volga region is identical, at least in indices, with the later Scythian group, and so is that from the Ukrainian Urnfields. Three skulls of so-called "Cimmerians" likewise show no important deviation.

We have seen that the Scythians and Sarmatians, although they undoubtedly included in their ranks many individuals of different political affiliations, formed nevertheless a quite constant principal racial type, which was essentially Iranian and a form of Nordic. In its characteristic low vault, as in other dimensions, it specifically resembled the earlier eastern European and central Asiatic Nordic form. It was essentially a member of the racial cluster associated with the spread of Satem Indo-European speech in both eastern Europe and Asia.

Scythians were extremely diverse. Using IBS we see Scythians or Sarmatians sometimes from the same area in Central Asia sometimes genetically more similar to Eastern Europeans and Nordics and sometimes with Siberians or E.Asians. We can clearly see signs of recent admixture between European types and E. Asians. One of the signs is almost equally similar to both E. Asians and Europeans.

For example with E. Europeans or Nordics IBS shows Europeans topping the list followed by W. Asians then C. Asians then S. Asians then E. Asians. However with many Scythians we see Europeans on top followed by E. Asians or visa versa. This shows recent mixing between European and E. Asian types.

Scythians who spread IE language were close to Europeans(although not exactly same like modern), nowadays Kazakhstan(where the people are genetically Turkic+Mongolian) were nearly fully West Eurasian and close to Northern/Eastern Europeans. Scythians with huge East Eurasian admixture probably never were IE since you can see the gradient of steppe admixture among IE-speaking people in Asia, which shows the migration route of them at the same time.

In Histories, the 5th-century Greek historian Herodotus describes the Budini of Scythia as red-haired and grey-eyed. In the 5th century BC, Greek physician Hippocrates argued that the Scythians have purron (ruddy) skin. In the 3rd century BC, the Greek poet Callimachus described the Arismapes (Arimaspi) of Scythia as fair-haired. The 2nd century BC Han Chinese envoy Zhang Qian described the Sai (Saka) as having yellow (probably meaning hazel or green), and blue eyes. In Natural History, the 1st century AD Roman author Pliny the Elder characterises the Seres, sometimes identified as Iranians or Tocharians, as red-haired and blue-eyed. In the late 2nd century AD, the Christian theologian Clement of Alexandria says that the Scythians were fair-haired. The 2nd century Greek philosopher Polemon includes the Scythians among the northern peoples characterised by red hair and blue-grey eyes. In the late 2nd or early 3rd century AD, the Greek physician Galen declares that Sarmatians, Scythians and other northern peoples have reddish hair. The fourth-century Roman historian Ammianus Marcellinus wrote that the Alans, a people closely related to the Scythians, were tall, blond and light-eyed. The 4th century bishop of Nyssa Gregory of Nyssa wrote that the Scythians were fair skinned and blond haired.

The Scythians themselves, under the influence of powerful Greek colonies on the north shore of the Black Sea, and particularly in the Crimea, produced a dis tinctive style of realistic art in gold repousée. These representations include a number of portraits of Scythians in very realistic and life-like poses. They show a well-defined type of heavily bearded, long-haired men with prominent, often convex, noses. The browridges are moderately heavy, the eyes deep set. These faces are strikingly reminiscent of types common among northwest Europeans today, in strong contrast to those shown in the art of the Sumerians, Babylonians, and Hittites, which are definitely Near Eastern. The face, therefore, is definitely Nordic, while the body build looks often thick-set and very muscular, but this may be due to the clothing, which includes baggy trousers and jackets with full sleeves. The pointed caps which they wear and the long hair make it impossible to form a useful opinion of their head form, but this is unnecessary, since we may soon discover it from reference to the cranial material. Persian representations of Saka show exactly the same type, depicted by the followers of an entirely different school of art, and hence this type cannot have been an unfounded convention.
