Classify John James Audubon

Great man, and his phenotype is very representative of my mother's family and the other local French. Which comes as no great surprise, really.

He was supposedly biracial, was held up at an example of a multiracial person when I was in junior high, but it is hard to believe from the portraits. He lived as white in the antebellum south. Maybe it was just assumed he was part black because he was born in Haiti?
