It depends on the channel and the type of programme you watch. Generally speaking, BBC and Channel 4 tend to be filled with ethnic minorities, while ITV, Channel 5 and Sky are not so much. Also, news, sport and music-related programmes are full of ethnic minorities, as are increasingly soap operas, but comedy and drama programmes are not especially.

There's hardly any South Asian representation in British media at all in comparison to blacks at all levels even though South Asians constitute a larger percentage of the population. Ethnic minorities mean both Blacks AND South Asians. You'll see more Blacks in music and sports programmes, but more South Asians in news and current affairs programmes, and both groups appear in soap operas.
