One could argue that western women who choose not to beautify themselves in public are doing something similar to wearing hijab: reducing the amount of physical attention they attract.

I think it's a bit harsh to call her or other women like her as dykes, just like it's harsh to call hijabi women ninjas or curtain-wearers. It's all a form of shaming women for not exploiting themselves.
