Genetics and Subrace

I have read about the work of anthropologists about subrace in certain parts of Europe. But when I see look at genetic charts it does not really make much sense. If there is really such a strong Lappoid element in Northeastern Europen then why does this not show up genetically? Or does it and I simply don't understand?
