I'm newbie and completely clueless about genetic tests and DNA/genetic testing companies. If want to find my Y-DNA and mtDNA, which companies are better? And what are the other helpful tests to find my ancestors (both paternal and maternal)? Thank you guys.

If you want to find out only your haplogroups use Yseq because it's the cheapest but still on the same level as Ftdna when it comes to getting your haplogroups but the only downsides are that it doesn't give you matches and the projects aren't as good as Ftdna projects, get the Alpha-Beta kit($85) which is equivalent to Ftdna Y37 for Ydna and get HRV1($25) and HVR2($25) for Mtdna. https://www.yseq.net/index.php?cPath=23&osCsid=306b95f73c1a43b38c68043f8ec88901 https://www.yseq.net/index.php?cPath=28&osCsid=306b95f73c1a43b38c68043f8ec88901. If you want to find out your haplogroups and autosomal make up you can buy 23andme

23andme is better than Yseq?

23andme is only better if you want autosomal as Yseq doesn't give you autosomal. Yseq is 1000000000x better than 23andme when it comes to haplogroups as Yseq actually gives you markers to find out your sub-clade which is something that 23andme doesn't do, 23andme only gives you your basic haplogroup and not the clade

And what is that FTDNA? You have mentioned it in your first reply.

Ftdna can test your autosomal for cheaper than 23andme although it's a bit more broad as for example it gave me 100% SE Europe, it cost $69 for the autosomal also called "family finder". Ftdna also can test your haplogroups at an advanced level same as Yseq but for a more expensive price, for example the Ftdna equivalent of Alpha-Beta called Y37 cost $169 whilst Alpha-Beta cost around $80 but this is because Ftdna gives you matches and has an advanced project system which is helpful in finding your clade, the same goes for their Mtdna test which is $79. Ftdna is having a sale at around Novemeber btw. Ydna tests- https://www.familytreedna.com/products/y-dna#/compare, Mtdna tests- https://www.familytreedna.com/products/mt-dna#/compare and autosomal- https://www.familytreedna.com/products/family-finder

That website is useful but I'm asking about the DNA companies like 23andme which perform DNA tests.

I like Ancestry for admix and 23andMe's haplogrouping and website.
Ancestry's website is awful.
But you can get your raw DNA file and upload it to GEDMatch and run your kit through their calculators. It is interesting, but you should be careful which calculators you use.

I start disliking 23andme since they hide your true ancestry. For example some Balkan people might be more East European than others but for 23andme they are all the same...Balkan

It tends to obscure specific ancestries in some cases in a way that I don't like.

I sorta agree on how they lump things together, for example I get 10.9% broadly southeast Euro which is too much and is probably just Balkan
