Dear Big Y Customers,

We've been quietly working on some big updates to Big Y, and want to give you a first look before the release goes live, October 10th!

Once the release is live, we will be recalculating Big Y matches. We anticipate this taking approximately 5-7 days. During this time, you will see "Results Pending" in the Big Y section. You will be notified by email once your results are processed and ready.

What’s New?
Here’s the breakdown of what we added and how it all works

Human Genome 38

We’ve updated from hg19 to hg38. This is a more accurate representation of the human genome and is the most recent version referenced by the human genome community.

Some of the advantages of hg38 are:
Better mapping of NGS data to the proper location
Consideration of alternative haplotypes across the genome
Terminal SNP Guide

We’ve added a terminal SNP Guide that allows you to view and filter the branches closest to your terminal branch on the haplotree.

BIG Y Browser

We’re giving you the ability to view your SNP data from Big Y. This will allow you to personally assess all SNP call positions that are being evaluated for matching purposes. This data will be continuously updated.

Only having 1 with 0 snp difference(we are E-BY5219 on FTDNA) that isn't so on Yfull I am not expecting much from this update. Us E-Z16664(according to Yfull) are a rare breed.

Was yours updated? Mine has been delayed. I don't know what the big deal is with the update, if you get a different subclade and matches or what.

No update yet. Hope this doesn't turn out similar to the fiasco of the 23andMe upgrade where it took absolutely ages. I'm not expecting much out of it. All the ultra tech stuff being talked about it sails right over my head.

Guys the reason FTDNA is delaying your results is because they are facing multiple lawsuits from customers. They are in way over there heads at this point. They are a lying garbage company.

Same here but they seriously messed something up or it still isn't really "updated". If you're in a project then you can see your matches are still the same as mine are (mind you the Norwegian's paternal ancestor is Dutch)
