Today is the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth. This use to be a national holiday but it was canceled along with Washington's birthday to make room on the calendar for the MLK holiday. Sort of ironic.:rolleyes:

I have heard numerous accounts of how Abe Lincoln had Melungeon ancestry, which is usually considered tri-racial - White, Indian, and African. Nowadays with genetic testing I think a lot of these so-called Melungeons have been discovered to have Mediterranean and Middle Eastern DNA. They have Mediterranean diseases apparently.

In any case, I think Lincoln was just ugly. He looks like an ugly British Islander to me. Mostly English, I guess. The site above has pictures of his mother and father. The site says Lincoln looks like his mother mostly, but I disagree. The long face looks like Abe's definitely, but the odd facial features look like they come from his father.

Lincoln may have suffered from Marfan Syndrom (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marfan_syndrome) which could have distorted his features near the end of his life. I think he is hard to classify because photography was not that advance until he was middleaged.
