So it's official, we broke the 100 million barrier.

Also Egypt is 5 times bigger than china in birth rate, china's birthrate increase is 0.5% while Egypt reached to 2.4% :thumb001:

Except unlike China, only 4% of Egypt is arable land.

"The great majority of its people live near the banks of the Nile River, an area of about 40,000 square kilometres (15,000 sq mi), where the only arable land is found. The large regions of the Sahara desert, which constitute most of Egypt's territory, are sparsely inhabited. About half of Egypt's residents live in urban areas, with most spread across the densely populated centres of greater Cairo, Alexandria and other major cities in the Nile Delta."

Egyptian population explosion worsens social unrest
560,000 extra births in 2012, compared with 2010, in country already struggling with depleted resources and too few jobs

Egypt is struggling to contain a population explosion that has surged in the past three years, exacerbating many of the social tensions that indirectly led to the 2011 uprising.

The number of births in Egypt in 2012 was 560,000 higher than in 2010, according to the most recent statistics. It is the largest two-year increase since records began. The rise keeps Egypt on course to overtake countries such as Russia and Japan by 2050, when forecasters predict it will have more than 137.7 million people.

"It's the highest spike ever in all Egyptian history," said Magued Osman, director of Egypt's leading statistics firm, Baseera, and former head of a government thinktank. "It's unheard of to have such a jump in a two-year period."

The rising population is seen as a social timebomb which, if untackled, will exhaust Egypt's depleted resources, worsen a dire jobs market, and contribute to yet more social frustration. With 60% of Egyptians under 30 already, a bulging population will further reduce the limited opportunities for young people.

"You can't maintain a good education system with this number of people," said Osman. "If the population increases, you need a parallel increase in the number of classes. Between 2006 and 2012 there was a 40% increase in the number of births. This means you need 91,000 new classes just to keep the same average class size, which is already very high – at least 40, and in some governorates it's at 60."

Egypt promotes birth control to fight rapid population growth

Egypt is pushing to educate people in rural areas on birth control and family planning in a bid to slow a population growth rate that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said poses a threat to national development.

In 2016, Egypt saw the birth of 2.6 million babies, the country’s statistics agency CAPMAS said last month.

“The two biggest dangers that Egypt faces throughout its history are terrorism and population growth and this challenge decreases Egypt’s chances of moving forward,” Sisi told a youth conference last month.

Egypt’s health minister last month started Operation Lifeline, a strategy to reduce the birth rate to 2.4 and save the government up to 200 billion Egyptian pounds ($11.3 billion) by 2030.

China has a rule in their nation of no more than one child allowed per family due to all the problems caused by overpopulation. Life spans are increasing and the planet is overpopulated with limited resources for everyone.

Japan has a problem with an ageing population.

Wars, disease, famine, etc, reduces populations within competitive nature amongst the survival of the fittest species.

Exponential technological development will take care of that. You could be only 10 people and still suffer from lack of resources and starve if you can't use the land. Same you can be 20 billion and be all good if technology has made it possible to produce enough for everyone.

Once the social care benefits collapse in Western Europe and Scandinavia, it won't really matter to those refugees where to settle. What people fail to understand is that as Balkan and Eastern European nations develop, they become more attractive as well to third world migrant waves. Albania and Kosovo are not safe from being struck by migrant waves in a couple of decades.

I don't disagree because probably you were in Cairo?

A suburb of Alexandria actually, but yeah, the closer we got to tourist places the more likely we were to draw attention.

Sudan is the solution trust me and not only Sudan but Somalia+Eritriea should be part of the coming union of Egypt-Libya and Sudan.

And you think an union would work out well merging (barely functioning) countries in one body and at same time combat climate change altogether. lol

Of course, we will help each others.. Egypt with its man power, Libya with its oil,Sudan with its agriculture and if Somalia one day to join we will control the red sea.

I think somewhere south of the city, between the airport and the freeway to Cairo, if it makes any sense... :)

'You will help each other' but when political balance is lost you'll see how fast you turn against each other, we seen this in Middle east very often....You aren't really known for empathy either, so I highly doubt for that utopian scenario you hint at.

Why so? Egypt was 3 countries before.. Egypt, Nubia and Sudan all were seperated kingdoms .. but they united from thousands of years till 1954, just Sudan separated and we will unite again.. we have nothing against Libya, there are hundreds of thousands of libyans living here.

Good luck then but I fail to see a pragmatic explanation from you how'd you overcome the climate change and desertification problem which will affect your regions the most also how'd do you sustain your ever growing population along the road?

We have built a new capital and it's nearly finished.. we have plans for desertification as our satellites found major groundwater in eastern desert near Libya, it's possibly underground rivier

Many Egyptians and even Andalusians helped Somalis in their jihad against Christian Ethiopia in 1500s. The city harrar had Egyptian mameluke cannons for eg

Egyptians are a highly productive immigrant group in the USA. They work as hotel managers for hotel owners and open hookah/belly dancing restaurants.

All this talk is useless Raine, more man power= better industry

That's not how it works.

This is how it works: educated population = better industry.

The rise in population means a future collapse of the nation's infrastructure that won't be able to support its population growth unless people immigrate.

We're educated nation, our history proves it and our positions in worldwide agencies proves it.

and the rise of population doesn't mean collapse for us, it means more development, more pressure on government to develop the the vast majority of the desert.

and 100 million is bullshit we should have been at least 300 million by 2010, I don't know what happened but no problem we grow rapidly now.

3-4 fertility rate will fuck your country in the near future. Only countries with very low birth rates need 2-3 or 3-4 kids per family.
