I don't see that as ever having been a mainstream look in Greece. That woman is from Karpathos which has exotic mixture (they are similar to Sicilians more or less).

It is one of the different Greek looks,since Karpathos is Greek ,not Sicilian
More precisily its a South-Eastern Greek look.
