I think Bobby Martnen requested seeing this town so here is one.

The town is famous for its Norman-Byzantine cathedral.

He is not Iranic influenced, he just has a higher Caucasian affinity. The north coast of Sicily has more Caucasian affinity than the south coast.

There is no, as far as I see, historical explanation but Palermo, Messina, Catania have elevated Caucasian which to me might be something prehistoric during the Bronze Age.

I looked at the component maps, and I came up with this - Greco-Roman seems too low and Norman/Lombard too high though - is there a better way to interpret this?
53.31% Levantine and North African (East Med, West Asian, Red Sea)
22.15% Greco Roman (West Med + half of Atlantic)
17.6% Norman/Lombard (North Sea + half of Atlantic)
The rest seems to be statistical noise

Don't take the northern components too literally. Look at the top 20 populations for a clearer idea of the genes... the North Sea and Atlantic components are present all throughout Italy and Greece.

It would be nice to have samples of Greco-Romans, Normans, and Levantines from 1500 years ago.

Didn't those components arrive with Germanic barbarians to North/Central Italy and Greece?

This person looks like they're mostly a mix of Euro-Mediterranean and West Asian with a little bit of North African and NW Euro admixture
