I think the calculator is trying to plot us near halfway between the 2 regions.
Otherwise can be because Germans / East Germans can have mixture of North West/Central European and East European components.

Hm, they put me down at coordinates 42.728485486 and 22.30127411199999, which is on some kind of a forest or natural park? in southern Serbia near a lake. The closest thing labeled on Google maps is something called Vlasina Rid. Veliki Cemernik is also close. And Kosovo, Bulgaria, and Macedonia aren't far either. Weird.
