Some years ago, I don't know if it's still the case but poker become a trend. The tournament give big prize.
I wonder, why poker? Why not chess who seems a more mental game or some other cards games?

I think it's for the pictur eof poker. A card game of cowboy in the west. The fact that's there is a part of luck and psychology.

Do you think some other game smight have the same succees, like tarot?

I know a guy that's ranked in the top 300,000 worldwide for No Limit Texas Hold 'Em. I believe his exact ranking is around 245,000.

245 000? Is it really a performance? It doesn't sound like it is.

It's a decent game, and it's more enjoyable to watch then chess.

Because poker is a game of men.

It requires that you get inside a man's head, to know what he might be thinking to be able to make your own bluff, or if you are feeling lucky, to take the chance of the hand going your way.

Nothing is more satisfying than baiting a player into a shitty hand because he thinks you are bluffing and all he has is a pair of jacks and you have a straight.

Chess is too mathematical and fixed. Chess is all about putting yourself in good positions and having multiple options. They can't attest for a checkers piece and a yugioh card falling on the board.

You don't really control your fate in Poker. It's too reliant on the element of chance and risk.

Poker is 90% luck in one session, but 90% skill in the long run. By using applied mathematics and statistics you can gain a good edge on your opponents. If you can also manage your bankroll in accordance with the variance and standard deviation involved in a game you can easily become a winning player.

The amount of strategy and logic involved to be a top player is insane. The top players have spent hundreds of hours working on their game. Check out twoplustwo.com and just have a look at how seriously some players take it.

People who don't know how to play poker think it is purely luck. Download Phil Gordon's Little Green Book pdf. Will take under 2 hours to read.
