It's amazing how similar Sicilians are to Jewish people. The only thing I don't understand is how they are this related. I can't think of any historical event which would cause such a commonality. Are Sicilians related to Jewish people because of their similar genetic combinations, or is their a direct line of ancestry of both peoples?

'Caucasus' is his/her's highest component!

What about for a Spaniard..I wonder if Caucasus/SW-Asian/etc would signal Phoenecian/Jewish/Greek/Roman/Arabic admixture? https://www.eupedia.com/genetics/spain_portugal_dna.shtml

Both Sicilians and European Jews are a mixture of Italic, Greek, and Levantine. There were in fact assimilated Jews in Sicily but they were just one of many groups there.

The way to understand Sicily, more or less, is that the northeast of the island is closest to Dodecanese, southeast is closest to southern Greeks, and the rest of the island is close to different Jewish groups. Despite some people thinking otherwise, I don't find Sicilians to look very different from western Jews.

Nearly all Sicilians score Caucasus as their highest component.

For Spaniards, Caucasian input is much lower. I am unsure what it would signal but most likely Greek, Roman, or Phoenician input.

So they only appear to be related because they have similar ancestry combinations, not that they were once the same people but then broke off from one another?

Yes. The relationship between Sicilians and Jews is comparable to the following:

You have two sisters, A and B. You have two brothers, C and D.

Sister A has a child with brother C. This would be Sicilians.
Sister B has a child with brother D. This would be Jews.

These two hypothetical children would not have the same parents, but nearly identical inputs.

I don't really think they look at all alike, even though they're very genetically close.

IMHO, Sicilians have darker complexions but more western facial features than Ashkenazic Jews

I think it depends on where on the island. I think the Palermo/Caltanissetta/Agrigento area they do genuinely look like Ashkenazim. The east coast they look like various types of Greeks, more like islanders in the north and Peloponnesians in the south. The region with the most 'western' types is probably Trapani but even there, the Levantine input is higher than it is in the east.

They really don't look similar to me. Rates of light eyes and hair are way higher in Ashkenazim than any Sicilian or South Italian group. That said, Ashkenazim have more eastern looking facial features to me

Some say Jewish men took Northern Italian wives and converted them in the 1st millennium A.D. Actually if you model the Ashkenazim as a mix of Samaritans and Tuscans (see GEDmatch results), the mix would come out surprisingly similar to Jews.

It is amazing to see how jews are genetically related to Sicilians. I also think that Sicilians look very similar to Jews. Although European Jews often have whiter vibe.. I wonder what makes the difference.

I mean I usually get South-central Italian or central-northern greek (rather than sicilian) as a close population in gedmatch (and even in other tests like DNA.land I have huge trunk of South Italian in addition to Iberian,South-Slavic, Levantine and Amazigh)..

But I don't think I could pass as a typical sicilian. I almost look like a textbook Alpinid (round head shape and straight-upturned nose) but I can see some little Mediterranid(Pontid? East Mediterranid?) effect on my face. I might be uploading a picture of myself to here when I'll be old enough(I hope in two years. my face change really fast at the moment). If you like I can send you some pictures of family members(Full Sephardi like me) in PM so you could classify them and say if they pass in sicily or anywhere else.
