Ok so, i've spend the last hour researching my ancestry again on Gedmatch, and since i've gotten a very good amount of Middle eastern and asian results i decided to look more into the Turkish side since i saw alot of results out of Turkey like " Turkish_Istanbul" "Turkish_Aydin" etc, and guess what i found. I probably have good amount of proof of Turkic ancestry i'll let you check it rn.

Amount of times i have spotted Turkic/Tatar/Gagauz/Chuvash heritage in Gedmatch Admixture.

This is INSANE, i literally never looked for Tatar or Gagauz ancestry because i basically never cared i was only focussed on Italian and Middle eastern, but now this changes things. Do y'all think this is good amount of proof for having Turkic heritage or is there more that needs to be done? comment down below pls because i don't know what 2 think of this exactly yet.

I dont think so

I dont think so

Do you happen to know either way how to figure out if you have turkic heritage or not? Because also AncestryDNA told me i had central asian and middle eastern ancestry. I've also gotten myself tested at Myheritage by uploading my Raw DNA and it just said i had 6.1% middle eastern, idk all this stuff is still very confusing and idk what 2 take seriously and what not haha

Maybe this tool can give you an idea,

http://gen3553.pagesperso-orange.fr/ADN/similitude.htm

You should run Eurogenes K36 and write your results. You will get a similarity map. I hope this helps.

no it is useless for what he is searching for

if you dont know if you have any "turkic" ancestry the only way to be at least somewhat sure that you do regarding gedmatch is to look if you have any east eurasian (siberian + east asian + amerindian + southeast asian) score above noise level and some population approximiation that shows a shift towards turkic speaking people

but that is almost impossible in my opinion when you are very mixed like OP is

it is easier for people like me . I am a Kurdish person from Turkey and I score higher than average mongoloid/east eurasian and have a shift towards anatolian turks a little and get Azeri as first population match on many calculators so I am assuming that a little (in my case like roughly 1/3) of my ancestry is from anatolian turks

but OP is mixed of many different ethnicities so it will be hard to make a picture out of this . it is a bit chaotic

the K36 (which I find to be a bad calculator) similarity map just shows in what percentage you and the country you chose to compare yourself to score the same components in similar amounts but it doesnt give you much of a clue of ethnic closeness . for example a Georgian will get a score of maybe 30 or whatever for Turkmenistan on the map because of the shared CHG (and likely a few other) component but he has nothing to do with turkmens

Gotcha! I thought he was a Yemeni and some historical reasons he thinks he has some Turkish ancestry. However, he is more mixed than I thought.

Indeed! However, as you know there some common gene pools. That's why a Georgian and a Turkmen share some common components such as Caucasian. That doesn't mean they are similar but a Georgian has more common ancestry with an Armenian. So, this guy will get higher similarity percentage with an Armenian. That map was useful for me. I am very new for this things. Which Gedmatch admixture calculator is good?

I am not an expert or anything but from my own interpretations I find that on gedmatch the best calculators are eurogenes k13 , puntdnal k13 global , puntdnal k15 , eurasia k9 ASI , and... maybe near east neolithic k13

dodecad calcs are not bad either imo

but the mixed oracle modes on all puntdnal suck imo

Yup, i am very, very mixed like im not even joking. On every test i have atleast 1% on every single reference population... It's freaking nuts! However it could also be that my so called " Turkic " ancestry could be overlapping with Georgian or Azerbaijan??? I also got azerbaijan on a test of mine. I'll try to find it and post it hollup..
