This is from far western Crete where people are supposedly lighter -- this person is closer to mainland Greeks than to Sicilians, and has high northern affinities for being an islander.

They shift 25% north of average Sicilians and whoever makes up the Crete average.

Strong Arabian (SW Asian) and Ethiopian (Red Sea) connections with touch of Nordic obviously.
It shows the history of the island occupied by Moors first and many centuries later by Venetians who are very likely for the Nordic job there.

This person is close to mainland Greeks (even closer than to southern Italians), there is nothing exotic in the result.

No. But Slavic DNA could have been carried there, and to other islands, indirectly if mainland Greeks settled.

Sorry but from where do you know what Dorians carried or what there components were?

This guy might have Venetian ancestry or it could be from Balkanites like Montenegrins who came as mercenaries to Crete
and assimilated there.

Crete never had a Slavic invasion.

And i doubt that Mainland Greeks would bring so much Slavic with their settlement.

Also R1a is in Crete 2,2% by the way.

I know alot of West Cretans who don't look different from other Cretans at all and they can also
be very dark types believe me.

Lavrentis is also from West Crete thats what he said at least.

Well you have to know also during the time of the revoloutions against the Ottomans there were alot
of people from other regions to support the Cretans not only Greeks but even Russians.

Also there were Venetians in Crete.

The features you are refering to as more European you can find among other parts of Aegean Islanders as well.

For example in Cyclades you can find people with the same looks among other types that looks different.

My impression of all the results is western Crete, Cyclades, and some North Aegeans are closer to the mainland than are the Dodecanese or eastern Crete. The latter are the ones more like Calabria or Sicily.

The Cretan result I posted in this thread can be modeled as half Abruzzese, half Macedonian Greek.

You could learn Greek so that you understand everything.

I mean since you are interested in Ancient Greece,Italy and the Levante and have some relations to these places
why not learn three languages like Greek,Italian and Hebrew

what is being said above between you and cybernetic? It is in my thread and I should be able to read everything in here after all...

he asked where i'm from, I told him and then he asked what made you think west crete is slavic shifted. I replied that you probably made this assumption due to other members/trolls and anthro bloggers repeating the same old stuff about Greeks having been replaced by Slavs.

Well there has to be some explanation for western Crete shifting north. It has to either be Venetians, Doric, or indirect Slavic input from the mainland.

When you see this person can be modeled as 85% Sicilian and 15% "Steppe" (RE: Balto-Slavic) it implies to me that it is from a northeastern source.

He's from the south. He is still slightly "north" of my Sicilian cousin, but not as much as the person I posted.
