Everyone in this area seems to have high Red Sea/SW Asian/Arabian/Natufian. Not sure if it reflects older population structure locked inland, or if it is reflective of the opposite: higher historical Near Eastern inputs.

If you draw a line between Portugal and Lebanon Druze you get Sicily at the midpoint of the line, not middle east.

I know. I consider Sicily a culturally European Mediterranean and genetically transitional group. Obviously they are very different from the Levant proper. Nevertheless, they are quite different from North Italy as well.

The reason Sicilians seem genetically out of place is that the Balkans is located right in the middle, but mainland Balkanites (even Albanians/Greeks) are not closer to Levantines than Sicilians are genetically, and all of the islands in between like Crete and Dodecanese are still genetically just like Sicily.

However, they are geographically AND genetically halfway between Iberia/North Italy and the Levant, if not slightly closer to the Levant.

The main difference between Middle Easterners and Southern European meds is the Steppe percentage and SSA. You will not find an Arab or a Levantine with such high Hunter Gatherer affinity.

Tell me please, how significant was the impact of Greek refugees in Greece in the past century? I read on Wikipedia that around 20% of the pop. was Anatolian/Asia Minor Greek in the late 1920s. People here usually say they were super swarthy or stuff like that. 20% cannot be diluted without a trace, unlike 1-2%.

Around 1.1-1.2 million refugees out of a total Greek population of a bit over 6 million. They weren't exclusively Anatolians though, some were from Eastern Thrace, others from Caucasus etc.

I usually confront Neo-Nazis/Nordicists (I mean real Internet Nazis) with this explanation when they bring up Southern Europe and 'race-mixing with Muzzies' - I tell them there's quite a few Asia Minor people who are not very European, unlike Mainland Greeks.

Imo neonazis believe nordics/germanics are superior to mediterranean southerners regardless of phenotypes and origin. For them even a ''swarthy'' Scandinavian is probably superior to a blonde Spaniard/Balkanite/Italian.

Well, they claim there was massive mixing with non-whites in Southern Europe when Islam arrived. I usually say much of the darkness can rather be explained by Neolithic ancestry, but they apparently don't know what Neolithic is.
