Vice Speaker of Parliament Keit Pentus believes that Tallinn's role as European Capital of Culture 2011 is an opportunity to promote Estonia and Finland as potential hosts for the final tournament of the European Football Championship.

"With the European Capitals of Culture now in Finland and Estonia, this is surely a good chance for the both countries' football associations, and I think the representatives of the two should meet in the very near future to draw up concrete plans," Pentus said.

One of the first European Capital of Culture 2011 events in Turku, Finland, was an interactive exhibition by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), with UEFA President Michel Platini among the guests.

The idea of jointly hosting the UEFA finals with Sweden or Estonia was also put forward earlier this week by Finnish Minister of Culture and Sports Stefan Wallin. Pentus has said before that the first realistic date for this would be in 2024.
