Yup, closer to Taiwan & SE-Asia geographically when you look on a map, yet still considered as part of Japan politically..

Genetically I believe they are still for the most part like other Japanese but indeed also have significant SEasian-like strains/influences as part of their overall genetic blueprint I would imagine.
