I don't know. He's from Thessaloniki though.

Ok i guess he is just Anatolian Greek and his surname is coming from his the town he's descendant from (Çandar?) I thought he could have something to do with Çandarlı family.

I don't know. I just googled it and Candar is a region from Izmir. That's probably where he is from if I were to guess, and his family immigrated as a result of the exchange.
