Turkish GEDmatch results - Western Anatolia

I was born and raised in Western Turkey, and so were my parents.
I always considered myself Turkish even though I suspected I may have little bit Yugoslavian in me from my dad's side of the family.
I recently took 23andme test and got too little East Asian (0.2%) and Middle Eastern (0.5%). At this point I am questioning my heritage.
(correction: I noticed there is no Central Asian category at all)

Out of my four grandparents:
- two grandparents were refugees from Macedonia (don't know for sure whether from Yugoslavia/FYROM or perhaps the Greek province); were Atheist; spoke Macedonian, not Greek or Turkish
- one grandparent's both parents were refugees from Drama, Greece; were Muslim; spoke Turkish, but I don't know if they also spoke Greek.
- one grandparent was born and raised in Golmarmara, Turkey; was Muslim; spoke only Turkish. We never doubted his ethnicity being Turkish.

My grandparents all passed away, I may test my parents in the future, but for the time being all I have is my own results.
What I am wondering is how many of my grandparents were Turkish. Could they all be ethnically Greek, but not know about it?

Your pie results in your OP aren't typical of the people you score closest to in your oracle, so I'm confused on how that happened. Also your cauasian/west Asian score dropped from 30% in one calculator to 15% on another. When I use the two calculators in question, my west Asian score doesn't change that drastically. Assuming this in not fake,you still have Turkish admixture as you have Cremean Tatar very high on your list, but the Balkan in you is much stronger!

23andme says I had a 100% Middle Eastern ancestor 5 generations ago.

If it were to be halved at every generation due to intermarriage with Greeks, then it dilutes to
50% at 4 generations ago
25% at 3 generations ago
12.5% at 2 generations ago. I deduce one of my grandparents (that is 2 generations ago), perhaps the one born in Turkey, might have had a good chunk of Middle Eastern.


Still I am very surprised with my results overall.
Before taking the test, I looked up few Turkish 23andme and AncestryDNA results. They all had 10%-50% Middle Eastern. I thought I would have at least 10% Middle Eastern and never expected the Italian part.

I don't know how to interpret the ancient population results. Siberian is interesting.

Does anyone know results/kit number from ethnic Greek/Macedonian run in the same MDLP K11 algorithm?
I wonder if they would get less Siberian than me.


In most of these 1-population analyses like the one below, my distance to the top ranked population (usually Greek) is around 6-7.
I have seen people score 3-5 in other threads. (various algorithms and ethnicities, but the top score was lower than mine.)
I take it this means I am mixed and not very pure Greek, even though Greek is the closest population.
