Actually I take it back he is half Moroccan and half French Canadian. But he still looks Portuguese.

Surname is distinctively Moroccan.

That doesn't mean that he has Moroccan descent. I can't find any information on his ethnic background so that's mere assumption. Many fully European families used to live in Morocco, especially Spaniards and French not so long ago.
