I used PuntDNA-L K13 because a) it is the only calculator with one Sicilian reference and b) It is the newest.

The following are the distances between the samples I have and the South Italy/Sicily reference. Lower number means closer. Higher means further.

All islands are closer on average than any mainland region. Mani is the closest mainland region. Macedonian Greeks are, by far, the furthest away from Sicilians, while people from all major islands are very close.

Kythera had Phoenician settlements unlike the rest of the islands.

Albania should be closest to Epirotes, so this would imply that Thessalians, Macedonians, and the Central Greek sample I have (which is small and could be unrepresentative) might be further from Sicilians than Albanians are due to higher Slavic.

For what it is worth the furthest Greek Macedonian, for whom I put 16.67 distance, was really not getting Sicily in the top 20 at all so I have no idea the true distance but it is further than that. I just picked 16.67 since that was the highest distance that person got for their 20th group, so I was being conservative there.

Once you get past Karpathos on the list, the list is literally going forward a ranking of less to more NE EUropean/Slavic like ancestry.

The 5.47 Peloponnese is odd. Are you sure that's not a Tsakonian sample? Pulls the Peloponnesian average down a bit.

They're Arcadian.

Does anything on that list surprise you? It pretty much shows all the islands are close to Sicily, and the mainland further away but I'm surprised Epirus is not further than it is. This means Albanians might be closer to Sicilians than Macedonian and Thessalian Greeks are.

Yes central Greece because it usually includes Sporades or Cyclades, Yes? I'd bet the 13.01 in CG comes from Boetia.

Central Greece on Eurogenes includes North Aegean islands but my sample here are mainlanders.
