Magic: The Gathering.. ?

Seems a lot of my friends are getting into this game lately (well, since they all went to university and joined gaming groups!).

So I gave it a shot today and found it quite enjoyable. I'll likely look into really getting into it.

Does anyone on the forum play?

Man, I used to play back in like 1994 when it was brand new. It was like THE thing back then... LOL! The good ole days... If only I still had all those cards... I was always white + green. This was after going thru phases of white + red and white + blue. A good white + x deck is hard to fuck with.

I gave it up in high school. It was a fad that I quickly got bored of.

Nowadays, you can go to the local mall and see out-of-work beardos in their 30s, teenage nerds, and other assorted oddities playing this card game.

I've always preferred D&D myself, but I do play Magic if someone brings an extra deck. I prefer to roll Black/Red, because that's what I used to play in high school but I'm becoming proficient with White and Green as well.

It's a fun game if you just want to have a quick go and don't want to spend the time that it takes to run through a full RPG session (I usually run 5-6hr games when I DM D&D, but I did an 8-hour one-shot of Warhammer: Dark Heresy once as a player.)

Hey, some of us are of the "pokemon generation". I never heard of Magic until I came to college and saw the neckbeards playing it.
