A study conducted by Maruszak et al. (2014) analysed the mtDNA of 395 elite Polish athletes (213 endurance athletes and 182 power athletes) and 413 sedentary controls and found that haplogroup W is among the most overrepresented mtDNA types among power athletes at the Olympic/World Class level.

TL,DR summary:
Originally W was a CHG (Caucasus Hunter-Gatherers) lineage. Later W6 came with Caucasian brides to the Pontic-Caspian Steppe, where it became part of the Yamnaya culture. Then during Indo-European westward expansions ca. 5000-4000 years ago, W6a differentiated from W6 and became part of the Corded Ware culture. Proto-Slavs emerged from descendants of Corded Ware. Today, W6a is an almost exclusively Slavic or Balto-Slavic mtDNA haplogroup. W as a whole is also overrepresented among elite power athletes.

CHG ancestry likely diffused into Steppe due to bride exchanges between CHG and EHG.
Maybe it's more accurate to say proto-Balto-Slavic, since it's hard to divide this 2 related ethno-lingusitic groups (in ancient time i mean).

Yes but for some reason it is less common today among Balts than Slavs (maybe a founder effect?). However, its presence among Estonians must be due to Indo-European / Baltic admixture.

Maybe it's just becouse of Finno-Ugric admixture in the ethnogenesis of Balts.

But Estonians are more Finno-Ugric than Balts and yet they have more of it?

More Finno-Ugric in linguistic and cultural sense, yes. But what about Y-DNA results?
Finno-Ugric N is more common in Lithuania and Latvia than it is in Estonia. :)

About Lithuanian Y-DNA, there was this study with 301 samples:
https://www.theapricity.com/forum/showthread.php?212757-Old-Prussian-ancestry-of-East-Prussians
R1a - 42.19% (127)
N1 - 40.53% (122)
I1 - 4.65% (14)
R1b - 4.32% (13)
E1b - 2.66% (8)
I2a - 2.33% (7)
J - 1.33% (4)
G - 1.00% (3)
I2b - 0.33% (1)
other - 0.66% (2)
And when it comes to share of R1a-M458 in all of Lithuanian R1a:
R1a(xM458) - 100 (= 78.74% of R1a) most of it is R1a-Z280 including Z92
R1a-M458 - 27 (= 21.26% of R1a)
So only 1/5 of Lithuanian R1a is M458 (in Poland it is about half of R1a).
As for Baltic subclades of N1c, I think they can be described as:
