Proto Italic people never existed, Italy was populated from Balkans and Anatolia, there was nothing Germanic in Classical Italy whatsoever..

But in a 5th century A.D. Italy was Re-Populated by Lombards, Franks, Normans etc... many non-european people who came from Indo-European regions.

Indo-Europeans aren't Italians.

Italians were a population of Argos (Greece), Arcadia (Greece), Troy (Anatolia), Illyria (Dalmatia) etc...

It is important to note, that Balkans was well populated when Italy was empty, not to mention Northern Europe where only
few hunting huts were present. How could they populate Italy? Nohow.

People who think Viking like people settled Italy are mentally ill and insane.

Ancient Italians are modern day: Greeks, Romanians, Anatolians, Serbs, Macedonians, Albanians, Sicilians, people of southern Italy, Bulgarians
or better to say: Italy was a clone of modern day Balkans before Indo-European people conquered it.

Latin language was a mixture of Greek language and Anatolian language, that was a compromise language between populace of North and populace of South.

This video explains a lot.

Proto-Italics were Nordids, they came to Italy from the north.
They conquest swathy native med people in Italy and mixed with them.
Roman elite had strong Nordic influence, because they originated from Italics which less mixed with native swarthy meds.
Half of Roman emperors had light hair and eyes.

Nordic, Dinaric, Alpine and CM were the common types among proto Italics, they were Central Europeans.
Early Romans were more or less like modern Northern Italians and Tuscans/Central Italians (Central European types + Southern European types).

With the absorption of all Italian peninsula populations in the last days of the republic they became more or less similar to modern Italians as whole, including Southern Italians.
South Italy was basically Greek + Italic tribes + Phoenicians before the Roman period.

Some people in here use loose history to back up their hate and prejudices.
