Could they pass as a full group of Assyrians?

Definitive no to Greek mainland (once and for all), partially to Dodacanese (about 1/3 could pass), possible in Cyprus (1/3), partially to Sicily (1/3 could pass), 1/3 in Saudi Arabia and approximately 1/3 in Afghanistan. They are distinctly Levantine.

Generally, yes.

Thank you for contributing. I am not implying they fit in mainland Greece when I put Greece in the poll, I put Greece generally so people can specify which regions they fit in and which they do not. Obviously they fit better in the islands.

Saudi Arabia. Quite dark and homogenous, as expected for Maronites. You find more diverse and lighter types among Muslim families, especially Sunni ones.

Because Muslims have some Norman ancestry from the Crusades, no?

I messaged you something by the way.

Hard to decide between S. Italy and Saudi for top spot, but I think I'll put Saudi for this one.

Remember that Saudis would often be Arabid, Yemenid and Arabian Veddoid (the latter two lack greatly in the East-Med region):

Let's forget that they're peoples who belong to two different continents, but Lebanese and South Italians are at least both predominantly east-meds and, as such, would be more alike phenotypically.

Yep. They're Indian-looking Arabs. I believe they're called Arabian Veddoid. :)

Saudi Arabia has a lot of these kind of people, even SSA looking ones. So that's why that Lebanese family the OP posted would still fare off better in S. Italy than Saudi Arabia as they're really Mediterranean looking. Also, Saudi Arabia doesn't have that many native Meds.

Saudi Arabia is diverse. I know many Saudis, even people from Kuwait can look more Sicilian than many Levantines do, like this girl. I am sure many Saudis look east med.

They are not ethnically Lebanese people, although they cluster with them (as they do with some Armenians and Middle Eastern Jews).

Muslim Lebanese people would have Arabian blood in them due to Islamicisation where they mixed with Arabs - Although many still tend to look more Levantine than 'Arab-Arab'. Assyrians, Druze and Maronites (Christian Lebanese) are more pure and have the less Arab admixture, hence your surprise about them not looking stereotypically Middle Eastern.

Btw, Assyrians don't speak Arabic like the Lebanese do. They speak a Neo-Aramaic language.

We should keep in mind that Saudi isn't even really an ethnic group.

As you said, Lebanese Christians and Muslims tend to plot together, and if anything Muslims shift further away from Arabia than do Christians.

Not just that. If you check their averages you'll notice Christians score more Red Sea, while Muslims more European, Caucasus and a tiny amount of African. Overall the differences aren't that great of course, hence why they plot together.

Far too tan of a lot to rate high as Ashkenazi.
At least in my opinion.
Pretty swarthy for most of Greece, too.

Which southern Italian regions would they fit in to you, and which might they not? Or rather, how far north in Italy could they pass?

What is not to understand?

Look at the photo, and then rank, best to worst, the places in the list that they fit.

Look at the first post (it even received two likes):

I think the family looks too dark to pass better in Southern Italy and Greece than Afghanistan or Saudi Arabia.
