I'm inbred on my 15th chromosome :fcrazy:My uncle and aunt are, so it turns out I'm also related to my uncle.
My dad's parents are too.
My mom's DNA test results are coming in a week or two, but I think her parents are also related... Turks from Macedonia used to go to each others' villages to find girls for their sons so if my uncle and blood related aunt are related, I won't be surprised when GEDmatch says my mom is inbred.
I'm not inbred though, because my dad's from Greece and prolly also Kosovo, while my mom's from Macedonia.

Did not know this was common. I thought it was so just in my dad's family.
I do remember from my childhood my grandmother from Macedonia would comment whether the new bride or groom coming into the family is "bizimkilerden" or not.

What region of Macedonia are you from? I'm from the eastern part, more specifically villages like Izlevo, Dobrain etc. and the town Radovi. Do you have a GEDmatch kitnumber? I can look up if we are related.

Inbreeding is a common trait in Turks. It's actually not. Turks from areas with less Turks than in e.g Anatolia just did more arranged marriages and because the options were a lot less than there, they often subconsciously married relatives. Now emphasis on subconsciously, because the fact that Turks 'bought' girls for their sons in other villages shows they tried to prevent inbreeding by giving their sons girls from the same village. But ofcouse, overtime this practice made all these villagers related and inbreeding inevitable.

Well then why are Turks so tribalistic?
No. They are from different regions, like a thousand kilometers away from each other.

I learned from my father that his parents were from a tiny mountain village called Melnitsa near Veles. This is all new to me, I had never wondered before as I thought all my grandparents were ethnically Turkish. That is Turks that Ottoman Empire settled in Balkans etc and came back during/after wars. Now I realize they must have been Macedonian/Greek converts to Islam. My mom's mom was from Drama, Greece.
I had deleted my kit, but will re-upload the raw data to GEDmatch.

I had deleted my kit, but will re-upload the raw data to GEDmatch.Turks from the Balkans are both descended from pre-Turkish converts to Islam and Turkish settlers from primarily Konya and Kayseri. When it comes to Drama, that was a mixed Bulgarian/Greek/Turkish region, just like most of northern Greece.
Please upload it again!

When one kit is on Gedmatch and another on Gedmatch Genesis, is there a way to compare them or are the two databases completely separate?
Mine is on genesis.

Mine is on genesis.Hmmm genesis and normal GEDmatch don't go together as fa as I know so I think not but I can try to convert my raw DNA into a 23andme file and upload it to genesis GEDmatch. Your village is not close to mine but we could still be related [emoji14] if we are I will stalk you until we meet each other
