It covers the period of 2 Ottoman monarchs who are represented in the movie by two different Romanian actors.

Serbs also made a movie about Kosovo in the same year 1989 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096966/?ref_=nv_sr_1 it was when those Iron Curtain countries were leaving socialism to embrace their Orthodox heritage and their medieval ethnic kingdoms.

Respect for Romanians who chose actors looking like Turks to represent Turkic Ottoman monarchs.
In their movie the Serbs however they put Dinarid-face actor to represent Bayezit I. In Serbian movie, Bayezid displayed as ubermensch while talking to the hostage Serbian prince Lazar.
