This guy Smiljanić Ilija was Serbian Hajduk from Dalmatia who fought against Turks in 17th century, so i just found that there is Albanian song about him and i am interested what it says. Its also weird that Albanians would have song about him since he was nowhere near Albanian populated areas.

Where did you find it? I haven't heard of this one before. He is also a character in two other songs as 'Smilanic Alija' and 'Smilanic Serdari': in Zuku Bajraktar and Muji e Smilanic Serdari.

It talks about similarities of Serbs(Montenegrins) with Gheg Albanians. I am very curious what do these song say about Ilija Smiljanic? I guess that he was probably antagonist, since in Serbian songs Mujo and Halil are negative, and in Albanian they are protagonists. Also i think i saw Jutbina( Udbina) mentioned in some Albanian songs, and Udbina in Lika(north of Dalmatia) is where Smiljanic family comes from. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smiljani%C4%87_family

But the wounded thief (Hajduk) is moaning,
The brave thief - Smilaniq Ilija
Heavy wounds he has caught -
In the fir-trees mountain, in the *Kunar mountain,
The black bird, the crow, descends through the branches,
Hurting the Smilaniq Ilias's eye,
For the crow can't wait no more,
Ilija to give up his soul,
The crow won't give up without drinking Ilia's blood
So he can feed of his *Mtshin
But Smilaniq Ilia sais (declares) :
You accursed crow,be gone from me.
Why are you approaching through the branches? (Why are you descending through the branches)
Even though i am heavily wounded,
My gun is full of *xhefërdana,
My hand is healthy, i haven't hurt it.
On you i am pointing my gun,
And i want to take good aim of you,
I shall kill and not deceive you.



*Kunar - No idea what Kunar is, it may be the name of the mountain.
*Mtshin - Again no idea what it is, a part of the body most likely.
*xhefërdana - Probably bullets.

Ilija is dying under a dry fir-tree, he is heavily wounded and a raven is sitting on a tree branch waiting eagerly to drink Ilias blood. Ilia takes his gun and aims at the raven.

Hajdut in albanian means thief. Hajdut trim (as Ilia is called) means a brave and unafraid thief.

mtishin is a typo. Its meant to say mishin. The raven wants to eat the meat of his body.
