I'm currently trying to figure out my genetics and ethnicity and so I'm analysing my relatives. About one of them I am clueless, so maybe someone here is able to give me further information. She's from hungary and half ashkenazi jewish and half... well that's what I can't figure out. The family part of which I'm clueless about has lived for about 150 years in central hungary. Most of them have deep green eyes, brown/blonde hair and were quite poor peasants, they didn't sell their harvest but used it for self-catering. Until here you'd probably say they're typical hungarians BUT what confuses me a little is their skin tone. It's quite yellowish (like eastern asians, south chinese for example) and with loads of freckles and a little brownish pigmentation on their hands and arms. Their living standard was relatively low (probably slightly below average during that time at the countryside) as already mentionned (quite a large acreage has been lost during the wars), they dressed normal and were found in local registers which made it possible to actually retrace their ancestors. I'm mentionning this because it makes it very unprobable they were gypsies despite their skin tone.
So has anybody an idea which ethnicity/race they are ? Is it possible they were hungarians despite that a little unusual yellowish skin tone ?
