I dont know if I'm the first with the idea, but I was just having a look on familiy's photographs and saw these beautiful Greek sculptures.
My fave ones:
http://www.mlahanas.de/Greeks/Arts/Misc/AphroditePan.jpg
Sculpture of Aphrodite, Eros and Pan, dates to ca. 100 B.C. Found in Delos
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/df/ApolloAndDaphne.JPG/450px-ApolloAndDaphne.JPG
Apollo and Daphne is a baroque, life-sized marble sculpture by Italian Gian Lorenzo Bernini, housed in the Galleria Borghese in Rome. It was inspired by one of the stories included in Ovid's Metamorphoses.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b8/Discobulus.jpg/420px-Discobulus.jpg
I actually got this on my anatomy book..and also saw it on urology one.
The Discobolus of Myron ("discus thrower" Greek Δισκοβόλος, "Diskobolos") is a famous Greek sculpture that was completed towards the end of the Severe period, circa 460-450 BC.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/c5/Callipygian_Venus_Barois_Louvre_MR1999.jpg/240px-Callipygian_Venus_Barois_Louvre_MR1999.jpg
The Venus Kallipygos or Aphrodite Kallipygos (Greek: Ἀφροδίτη Καλλίπυγος), also known as the Callipygean Venus, all literally meaning "Venus (or Aphrodite) of the beautiful buttocks",[1] is an Ancient Roman marble statue, thought to be a copy of an older Greek original. In an example of anasyrma, it depicts a partially draped woman, raising her light peplos to uncover her hips and buttocks, and looking back and down over her shoulder, perhaps to evaluate them. The subject is conventionally identified as Venus (Aphrodite), though it may equally be a portrait of a mortal woman.

Doryphoros of Polyclitus, Roman copy in marble of bronze original, c. 450-440 B.C.
Such beautiful features..

I admire Greek art and their canon of beauty. From an aesthetic POV, I'm much more Hellenic than Latin. I particularly love Caryatids, the women-columns.

Yet if I should choose one single sculpture out of so many options, nothing will ever beat Michelangelo's Pietà for me. When you fuse classical and Renaissance beauty into one, when you know how to move with a piece of rock, that's art, no need for words.

Another Piedad of unquestionable value is the one settled at Franco monumental mausoleum (shared with Jose Antonio and thousand of Civil War victims from both sides). I was there when it was a child and the whole recint is a work of undebatable magnificence.

My favorite sculpture will always be Laocoon and his sons:
http://thenativeaesthetic.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/laocoon20group.jpg
This is the work of three sculptors, of which the one that carved Laocoon is quite simply the greatest sculptor who ever lived.

Weeping angels are exercises in overwrought sentimentality. Angels are immortal. Why should they weep over the inevitable death of
mortals ? Surely, viewing mankind, as they must, sub specie aeternitatis, they are above such meaningless grief over a mortal's
predestined demise.

Hilarious Photos of Classical Greek Sculptures Dressed as Hipsters :D
I could wax stereotypical about the word Hipster, about how the demographic is typified by deliberate haircuts and skinny jeans, a manicured nonchalance obscured beneath giant sunglasses.
But far more fun than that would be to just show you some examples. And better yet, how about some classical Greek statues photoshopped to be wearing Ray Bans and varsity jackets, lacy bras and Nike T-shirts?
Such is the project of photographer Léo Caillard, who scoured Paris for a batch of trendy dressers, and then superimposed their clothing onto similarly shaped nude Hellenistic sculptures, arriving at the strangely beautiful (and hilarious) "Hipsters in stone."

There's also one for Battle of Kulikovo field to the right, as well as sculptures of couple of Russian rulers, saints and an iconographer I think.
Not to forget this one as well, monument to Nevsky in Pskov, saw it in a film called Russian Sacrifice (Русская жертва) which dealt with the battle for Height 776.Riddled with symbolism that one was.

#1: quality of craftmanship is very good (Mary's left hand is disproportionate, though), but great expressions' exaggeration dominates throughout (typical Baroque), which has an opposite effect from what author intended.
#2: thematically and also in execution identical to early Hellenistic sculpture (minus the fact latter were painted). However, unlike good Hellenistic sculptures, the interaction of muscles is not so well observed.
Compare this to "Sleeping Faun" (a Hellenistic sculpture from around 220BC that used to adorn Emperor Hadrian's inner sanctum):
http://www.antike-am-koenigsplatz.mwn.de/typo3temp/pics/346f49ad8a.jpg
Missing parts (IMHO well) reconstructed:
http://virtual.parkland.edu/vmartin/sleepingsatyr.jpg
Facial expression:
http://www.antike-am-koenigsplatz.mwn.de/typo3temp/pics/e5f82c5567.jpg
^ The close observation to anatomy, the level of expression without any exaggeration, the supreme quality of crafting absolutely shame Michelangelo. I don't think something comparable was done in past 2000+ years. The Hellenistic school simply has no rivals in the subject of sculpture.

In Waalwijk, Noord-Brabant. I grew up there and in foster care in a different province so for me, it was like a symbol of coming home.

Same for Den Bosch. It was known as the Moerasdraak or swamp dragon because it was surrounded by marshes and the river and notoriously difficult to besiege. In the end, they got it (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_%27s-Hertogenbosch) though.
