View Full Version : ApricityVision Song Contest 2011

Now that the musical holocaust known as the Eurovision Song Contest (http://www.eurovision.tv/page/dusseldorf-2011) is almost upon us again, it's time to do our bit instead to celebrate some real musical talent in our respective countries.

The idea: to organise a song contest of our own on the forum. Each country will have its own contestant, and the winner will be decided in a poll in a separate thread.

RULES:

Entries preferably in the form of Youtube videos.

Only one entry per country. If you live in a country with lots of Apricity members, you're welcome to start a separate poll/thread in that country's subforum to determine the contestant.

The entry must be a song released in the last 12 months (and it cannot be your country's Eurovision entry).

The band/artist/performer must be native(s) of the country they represent. The song preferably performed in the country's own language.

Entries in this thread. Let's try to have them by the end of this week. :thumbs up

I forgot: you can't vote for your own country's entry. ;)

At Spain, on relation with good taste and artistic topics, that expression "last 12 months" is from many years just an elaborate way of saying just "worse".

Ps. Anycase it could be a nice effort.:coffee:

Unfortunately I can't take part in it.

Yes you can, if you want to. Just enter a song by an artist from Catalonia. This is about music, not politics.

The problem of Catalonia in Eurovision would be no before being accepted but after...just by considering Catalonian last "apportation" to "the song of all the Spaniards". :D

Can you tell me any Catalan song in Eurovision before Andorra? Wait, why was Serrat banned by Spain from going there... because of the song quality? Wait, didn't the song win that year? En fin...

I don't like Katzenjammer, my first choice would have been Jokke & Valentinerne, but the song have to be from the last 12 months and Jokke have been dead for 11 years.:(

Ok, since Im only Russian here, here's my contestant.

Mr. Humbert with their song "Маньяк", which roughly traslates into English as "Maniac".

(you can skip first minute of the video because it's dumb)

As the rules do not specify ApricityVision as an European-only contest,

Brazil's entry:

Depois da Meia Noite by Capital Inicial

Se alguém discorda me manda um pm que eu mudo.

I think it might be good idea not to let people vote for their own country.

Respecting the bases of the contest (just last year songs and preferiblely in local language), that's the best I've found (maybe there're new better bands but Im feeling too old to being updated):

Eldritch

Remember guys, the tune has to be from the last 12 months. As such, Janis and Ludwig van don't qualify. ;)

Okay, so we have entries from:

Norway
Russia
Germany
Brazil
Catalonia
Serbia
Spain

Keep em coming. :)

But if I were British, I would nominate this because it's amazing. Adele - Someone Like You

Tchaikovski is a fucking worm compared to Beethoven. With his two ears working he was not even able to maintain a good musical idea longer than one sheet.

I'm going to make sure the Finnish entry for this contest gets about as many votes as the Finnish entry in the E-V usually does, by nominating the song Vaellus by Circle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circle_(band)):

More nominations, people! Let's get this party started right!

As I'm the only one who remembers this competition, I declare myself the invincible winner and demand a temple be built in homage to me.

Eldritch
05-15-2011, 06:57 PM
Well, we could still try going ahead with this, if people are interested. And hey, if not, you'll get your temple. Just don't be disappointed if it's invisible.
