Beer is much older than vodka, and one was popular among both Germanic and Slavic peoples, before first distillery appeared in Europe.

Bohemia was part of the Holy Roman Empire for hundreds of years. There was a lot of cultural melding over the years between the two groups and cultural lines blurred. I’m a Beam/Boehm/Böhm and I love dobre pivo, especially this Tex Czech/German dark lager.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180401/b74b5211242d23fb04da0bc9d47943cd.jpg
I like this German Pilsner that comes from a place not to far from the Czech border that is not too far from where my people originated from Sachsen.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180401/b0f9b352bfa4a19671c49cee4020eff2.jpg

I visited brewery at Shiner TX, and several times I tasted Shiner Bock. It was the most tasteful beer what I tasted at USA.

It’s funny how how Czech and German farmers in the rural USA exploited their common cultural similarities to get along well, while at the same time in Europe , Czechs and Germans had a really bad relationship in the 30s and 40s https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180402/4a8dc301529dec77956c3cb23dc2d9ff.jpg

Beer was invented in ancient Egypt thousands of years ago. Also ancient Nuragic civilization in Sardinia used to produce beer 3500 years ago; in archeological excavations have been found amphorae with traces of beer inside.

This could explain the passion of Sardinian people for beer, the average Sardinian drinks more than double of beer of the average Italian. :drink

Because Czechs are weak and vodka is strong.

Who cares about vodka, when we can produce our own SLIVOVICA (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slivovitz#Czech_Republic)?
