In the PCA I also included:

- a Slovene from Novo Mesto
- a Dalmatian Croat from Makarska
- the venerable Bosniensis
- two Genoese (who should be a decent proxy for Novi Ligure)
- a Friulian from Udine

Thanks for posting, very interesting.

Btw it's obvious half Istro-Dalmatian has some local admix. And you should be careful about surnames, because in past there were much more Italianised Slavic family names, than the opposite.

No he is Italian, it's just that Italians are not Italians (just like Saxons are fake Britons)

You are all mostly conquerors... Normans, Lombards, Saxons, Franks... ALL NON EUROPEANS.

The only non-Europeans are Bosnian Muslims!

Ne brini prijateljico, govorim malo hrvatski. I can usually tell a slavic root from an italic one. And yes, he's stacking that local admixture to the point of resembling a half South Slav.

Do you think Julian Slovene is typical for the specific region ?

Yes, at least for the historical population. One only has to look at Slovene Italians to realize they are not exactly the same as people like Gregor Fučka or Tina Pisnik. Here's few of them so you can get an idea:

Matej Černič
Dušan Jelinčič
Jože Pirjevec
Tamara Blažina
Sergio Tavčar

This is half central Italian half Italian-Dalmatian from Zara. Likely the Italian-Dalmatian has also some Croatian.
