Yes, much like Nazis they believed they were superior to the Chinese, or at least that's what the generals told the soldiers in order to justify the mass killing and raping of the chinese population (besides the experiments conducted by Unit 731).

The Japs were hardcore brutal monsters back then, a far cry from how we now see them today. Just visit Japan today and every tourist will tell you that the Japanese are among the nicest friendliest people you will ever meet..even more so than the Koreans and Chinese people, especially towards foreigners integrating into their Japanese homeland.

But well yeah they were trying to create a united Asian empire, and I believe murdered anyone in the Philippines who didn't look Asian. :)

both my grandfather lived under japanese occupation.. japan force the filipinos to speak japanese, & join their asia for asian nationalism led by japan ( where resources & trade are heavily favored in japanese favor.. theres no historical evidence of japanese doing nanking rape to filipinos or genocide..

japanese saw themselves as the one who can stand up to white caucasians... they will not wait for asia to be developed for 100-200 years... they wanted to make a '' MAN'' out of everyone..

Philippines= Spain/USA.. Malaysia & myammar= britain, indonesian=dutch, vietnam=french, .. china was being invaded by british/french..

most filipinos never saw americans as enemies but a friend/ally.. & other south east asian nations never saw japan as liberator/big brother... just another colonizer no different from european colonizer but alot worst.. ( slavery)
