As I'm a fan of the likes of J.Cash, W.Nelson, DAC, Hank Williams Jr/III etc I'm looking for good tips on good country artists that doesn't have that "mainstream" sound.

I really like Shooter Jennings (son of Waylon Jennings and Jessie Colter) and his band the 357's. He is in the Johnny Cash movie, Walk the Line, playing his dad.

Growing up around country music made me appreciate and enjoy a lot of old country that people my age may not...

I would mention Patsy Cline, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Buck Owens, Ronnie Milsap, Keith Witley, Tom T Hall, The Oak Ridge Boys, Alabama, Marty Stuart, Pam Tilis, Randy Travis and Patty Loveless...

Not country, but considering the artists you like, you might appreciate some Sothern rock which has the same vibes and is good.
