Chinese warlords during the Kuomintang era (1911 to 1949), but mostly during the 20s and 30s prior to Japan's invasion when China was divided into many feuding fiefdoms controlled by local warlords.

There are a lot of stories about these larger than life figures, who commanded massive private armies.

But here's a bump

Most of them were from Northern China, Manchuria and Northwestern China. There are a number of them but they are generally Nordsinid and Mittelsinid.

What's a Tungid?

Primarily a phenotype found in Mongolia and Siberia characterized by very prominent cheekbones. I think some of these guys have some Tungid influence.

These pictures are really interesting to me. I just feel like I'm looking at ghosts from the past here.

I've always liked old photos. People used to dress so nicely, now it's standard to dress like you don't give a shit, which is fine for when you're just lounging around, but who the hell goes to a photography session in just a polo shirt and khakis?

North Sinids and Middle Sinids mainly, some of them with Tungid admixture.
