Quite interesting no doubt.

Do you find the results consistent with other companies, such as MyHeritage?

Honestly they differ from company to company for me. I don't know why, but the basic elements are often the same or quite similar.

I also note that some elements still come back but the proportion varies a lot, I'm almost 50-50 of North-African and North-West European on myheritage and only 27-18 on gencove.
I would be more likely to trust myheritage because the results confirm what I was sure of, but gencove may be closer to gedmatch results.

Yeah I have noticed the same thing myself. Being half Caucasian half Arabian, that the percent varies from test to test. At times I score higher Caucasian, and at times higher Arabian admixture. However depending on the oracles and proxies they use. It also seems that my North Caucasian ancestry is Anatolian shifted, but my Arabian/Bedouin has been consistent through out all the tests, but again it depends on the reference used. I think it's the same phenomenon mixed people go through, since I have noticed the same things. What is also interesting on gencove I don't score any SSA, but yet I do on 23andme, gedmatch, and myhertiage, and it appears at time East African or West African, which is kinda strange to be honest. However the basic ancestry seem often to be similar to my genetic makeup.

The thing with MyHeritage is that it is supposedly your very recent ancestry. So for example you come out 50% North African because 50% of your recent ancestry is from North Africa, but other companies supposedly go further back (as in what that 50% recent North African is actually made of). Either way with my experience none of these tests were really on spot but close enough.

Well these tests are still in their infant stage, so they won't tell us the exact makeup but with give us something very close to the ball park. I got nothing out of the ordinary, because on Myheritage I got mostly West Asian, same with 23andme, well with this which breaks it up more accurate in breaking down my ancestry. I think eventually they would be more accurate and pin point the exact genetic makeup like in 5 to 10 years from now. Though for MENA's it could still be difficult due to it's diverse genetic makeup.

I did gencove too. all the results i have seen so far vary but are still somewhat similar. ashkenazi seems to come up a lot in various tests (6% on gencove) and i think east med is overstated on it at 16%.

Question is what direction will these tests take, recent ancestry or further back and more detailed. Personally I think it would have been cool if it gave you an estimate of your recent ancestry and then break it down further (as in "You're 50% North African and out of that 50% X% is berber Y% is Arab Z% is Southern European etc.) but I doubt it's a direction these companies consider lol.
