Rio de Janeiro is one of state that received many blacks in Brazil. More than 1 million.
And everyone knows that the North Zone of the city is where there is the greatest concentration of blacks.
Although, there are no census, my experience in the city would say: Madureira.

Madureira is a neighborhood in the North Zone of the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Its population is basically middle class and lower middle-class, including some shanty towns, (favelas).

Cool. Would love to visit. I was only in the Zona Sul when I visited Rio, and I was a young teenager back then.

Zona Sul is full of whites and light pardos. But in the favelas of Zona sul u have a lot of black people. Madureira is Zona Norte, suburb. Zona Norte is cool because we almost have no favelas here.

Interesting. Brazil received more blacks than Italians and Germans, but here in the forum people deny the facts.

One question: Is there any racism in Brasil comparable to USA racism ? To me.. from my Italian point of view.. racism in Brasil make no sense because most of the people are mixed or black...

No. And racism here is veiled. You cant say racist things in public because its a crime here, you get arrested for using racist words

Plus, we arent obessed with races like USA is.

There's a sizable phenotipically-white minority aswell as a darker black minority juxtaposed with a mixed majority, and all three have a veiled non-confrontational way of thinking about the other fenotypes/races.

But in a general sense, day to day life is pretty lax in that regard, people don't really care if a white dates a black, mulatto, castizo or whatever.

This either assumes that Mixed and Black people cannot be racist, or that having such a multiracial society means that divisions cannot exist...

This neighborhood is incredible too black, its look darker than even Salvador as whole. But I still cound find some whites in the pictures, this proves to Kmack that Brazil is not racist and segracionist like USA.

Only 80% of our high or middle class is white and 20% of poors look white. People need to know that money matters more than race in Brazil.
