What are some of the animations or cartoons which you find better?

Anime is OK, but I tend to prefer Marvel/DC-comics/EC-comics stuff more TBH

Most of it is lame and idiotic. Very few is good. I like Dragon Ball Z and Mila Superstar and Kickers. Kickers and Mila Superstar was Japanese too.

But overall I preferred much more Disney as kid.

I can understand teenagers watching it (fighting or "anime babes") or rarely a young adult (depending on theme and how much time they have).
Some might be okay, some might be lame.

I voted 5.

I'm not an anime/manga fan in general, but there are some series that I enjoy, namely Ghost In The Shell & Neon Genesis Evangelion and the full feature film Akira.

Other than those, I don't know much about anime, I don't like those creepy schoolgirl fetish ones though.

It's weird that the people that gave us PRIDE also give us weird and queer anime as well. But then again there were some elements of PRIDE that was.. um... odd... Japanese are kinda weird...

Anime was the main stable for shows in the Mideast and North Africa for children, ironically they never would edit it. It was quite violent. There are good animes out there, but not all. I do love Pokemon for example. Yu-gi-oh is ok, but the Japanese version is much darker and more teen-adult centered unlike the English version. Dragon ball Z and Dragon ball GT were pretty cool. I also like Jungle Shonen Mowgli, Nadia the secret of blue water, Tiger Mask, and some others.

Anime with great characters, plot and animation is great, but I think that a lot of them don't have that criteria. Attack on Titan, Death Note, and One Punch Man are some examples of great animes that could even translate into a real life TV ahow or movie.

Jigoku Shoujo (Hell Girl)

https://myanimelist.net/anime/228/Jigoku_Shoujo

Have you heard of Hell Correspondence? Those with a powerful grudge may only access this mysterious website at midnight, allowing them to enter anyone's name and have that person be ferried straight to hell. Ai Enma, the Hell Girl, will not judge whether or not the chosen target deserves punishment; she will merely exact revenge on them for you. Not much is known about this young girl other than that she swiftly carries out her tasks with the help of three straw dolls. There is just one catch, however—as payment for carrying out such a request, the user must condemn themselves to an afterlife in hell.

I recommend Fairy Tail

In the mystical land of Fiore, magic exists as an essential part of everyday life. Countless magic guilds lie at the core of all magical activity, and serve as venues for like-minded mages to band together and take on job requests. Among them, Fairy Tail stands out from the rest as a place of strength, spirit, and family.

Lucy Heartfilia is a young mage searching for celestial gate keys, and her dream is to become a full-fledged wizard by joining this famous guild. In her search, she runs into Natsu Dragneel and his partner Happy, who are on a quest to find Natsu's foster father, the dragon Igneel.

Upon being tricked by a man, Lucy falls under an abduction attempt, only to be saved by Natsu. To her shock, he reveals that he is a member of Fairy Tail and invites her to join them. There, Lucy meets the guild's strange members, such as the ice wizard Gray Fullbuster and magic swordswoman Erza Scarlet. Together as a family, they battle the forces of evil, help those in need, and gain new friends, all the while enjoying the never-ending adventure that is Fairy Tail.

Akira is definitely good movie, and the massive comic version manga whatever is even better. First part of Memories, Magnetic Rose, starts strong, and I really like the mood with the haunting score

https://youtu.be/yo-GVtMVlVM

unfortunately story itself soon falls flat and is pretty dumb. 2nd part was lowbrow huuumor, and pretty ok. 3rd part was weird in that it wasn't really *anime* in style at all, looked more like it was cooked up by a coked up commie aartist from seedy parts of Böhme et Munster, late 70ies.

Do you think cartoons are lame overall? Because anime is just one style of cartoon. So whether or not an anime series is “lame” depends on the storyline for me.
I grew up with comics and animated superhero shows, so I got into anime when I was a kid too. Inuyasha and Naruto are two anime series that I adored as a kid. Even some mature anime series, like Hellsing, are cool. I don’t watch anime that much anymore, but I’m not opposed to watching a series if it intrigues me.

Interesting, tbh I'm too young to have known the Super Nintendo (I had a Playstation 1 as a first console), but all the kids who were born in the 90s know for sure Dragon Ball, it was the most popular cartoon (with Pokémon maybe)

I was a baby when the SNES was released I guess, but here everything is expensive as fuck, so most brazilians were still playing on their Super NES or Mega Drive in the late 90s.

This (https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/box/4/3/7/48437_front.jpg) was lreeased in 1994 in Japan, but in 1999 in Brazil (https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/box/4/3/8/48438_front.jpg).

Don't watch but I used to as a kid I rate it 10. It's intresting, I used to watch naruto, also death note has very incredible plot or shaman king etc. I would also rewatch naruto if it was in Czech Language, or I would watch even different ones if they were in my native language.

I'll try it. My boyfriend is into it. We watched Castlevania together and I liked it. I could never get into cosplaying though.

Castelvania is not an anime only that its drawing style is similar to one like Avatar.

I think the the older people who are into that are weird. And they are in fact weird its not just my opinion.

Something just off about a 30 year old man with pictures of young cartoon girls all over his media.

Who wants to hear the opinion of normie white old people about anime? The 2d world is something special and pure, and it should be kept far away from Caucasoids and from normal people.

i often find the story/setting of animes weird, it seems way too tailored for japanese culture and problems of their overly work/school pressure oriented and socially/sexually inhibited and generally very unhealthy culture for the psyche, as if they are trying to cope these supressed feelings with animes, dunno how to explain, i just get that kinda vibe when watching animes. So most animes, especially ones involving school or academies or whatever, just seem unsettling to me, overly dramatic, weird etc. I prefer animes from studio ghibli which are more of childhood nostalgia though and probably not those typical animes that are mainstream nowadays, those i dont like so much. A few examples i liked would be Violet Evergarden and Your Name though.

Sora gives off massive weeaboo / koreaboo vibes.

Latinus seems to really enjoy this stuff as well, not because of his posts here, but I'm pretty sure I remember him from an old brazilian forum.
