I took the test and when I look for family matches many of them have European Jewish listed under trace ancestry.

Why does Ancestry assign so many people with European Jewish trace ancestry?

Are there really this many people in the British Isles who have this?

It means that you share x amount of your ancestry with Ashkenazi Jews. It doesn't necessarily mean that you descended from Ashkenazi Jews.

Maybe it's because they're Jewish from the other side of their family?
