I think the Christians have been living there for thousands of years. I noticed they have Ancient Canaanite dna on gedmatch from like 1700 BC and I somewhat match with them.
I think we're a little different than Muslims because we haven't mixed with new comers after Islam spread to the region.

Like with us Assyrians then, usually they are excluded from the family aswell regardless if the person they are marrying wants to convert to Christianity.

Sure, if not AncestryDNA would probably have pinpointed a specific region in Italy or Greece based on his (A-DNA) matches with a percentage like this. It's a component shared by most Mediterraneans so it seems.

But this doesn't also imply that if this ancient component is categorized under the South European ethnicity, it is found and shared most by Greeks or Italians, therefore it's a part of their genetics?

These are old averages and he has included Syria, Lebanon, Palestine and Samaritans all in the "Levant" sample, between Cyprus and Jordan. 77 is Assyrians, 56 Kurds.

I've never met a Gazan in person but looking at pictures, I'm almost as dark as them. Some of us can naturally be that dark. Also our skin darkens easily under the strong sun. Notice how women have a lighter skin because they don't spend as much in the sun.
My cousin was born with light skin, blondish hair, as he grew up he became as dark as Gazans with dark hair. This is actually common among us.

dark Syrians are most often called Asli or Noble Bedouin tribes they have strong connection to the Arabian peninsula. They differ from the average Syrian and would have very similar results to. More similar to Yemenite Jews, Bedouins and ethnic Saudis. Although there some native dark Syrians but they have different facial features being more more hairy and robust.

He probably is of Bedouin descent from the Negev. Gazans are very close to Egyptians, they even speak the same dialect.

That would be interesting, from what I know most of the Palestinian samples are from the Negev, who are Bedouins which kinda skews the results. Well the Iraqi samples are mostly Kurdish.

Going through my gedmatch matches, I found many kits with the name druze11, druze17, etc... It seems somebody uploaded like 20 of them.
What's interesting is that many of them are scoring around 60% East Med.
I wonder if these are ancient, I can't emagine someone still have that much east med.
It seems to have close to 180,000 snps

Going through my gedmatch matches, I found many kits with the name druze11, druze17, etc... It seems somebody uploaded like 20 of them.
What's interesting is that many of them are scoring around 60% East Med.
I wonder if these are ancient, I can't emagine someone still have that much east med.
It seems to have close to 180,000 snps

Not sure how accurate this is...... It says I'm closer to several south European populations than Mount Carmel Druzes, Bedouins, Saudis, and even Palestinians.

I'm Greek Orthodox Christian.
I think the Christians have been living there for thousands of years. I noticed they have Ancient Canaanite dna on gedmatch from like 1700 BC and I somewhat match with them.
I think we're a little different than Muslims because we haven't mixed with new comers after Islam spread to the region.

My family tree only goes back 500 years in the Beit Lehem area. What happened before that is just scientific guessing. It's probably safe to say that I'm a descendent of the Ancient Israelites and even Canaanites before that. Just gotta wait for science to advance to reveal more.

Do you have any Jewish Genetic matches? We are also descendant (at least partially) from the ancient Israelites so it would be interesting if even after a millennia or two you will have a genetic link that can be traced (I mean relative matches). did you born in the West bank?

Yes, I have a little over 20 Ashkenazi matches on 23andme. They're all distant relatives, I share around 0.15 % dna with them.
On gedmatch, I share a segment of 11 cM with the closest Ashkenazi match. Her surname is Finkelstein. I have other Jewish matches but I'm not good at identifying Jewish names.

I've never met a Gazan in person but looking at pictures, I'm almost as dark as them. Some of us can naturally be that dark. Also our skin darkens easily under the strong sun.
But in winter your skin tone is comparable to a Southern European's, isn't?

I did find a Samaritan who looks just like me with the same skin tone. Almost a twin. So I guess my look is just a minority.

My 23andme results is 52% West Asian and 46% Arab. It's weird because all of my relatives score minor Arab, including my uncle who only has 11% Arab.

Thank you. On Harappa you're 1.2% South Indian. I think it's normal. After all, Iraq is not that far away and they have way more South Asian admixture, I've seen some getting 6-9% or so. 1% is really nothing. Northern and Eastern Europeans often get more SA than you do.

Do you get any South Asian populations in the mixed mode calculators in PuntDNA-L? I score east asian on many calculators and in PuntDNA-L I get some asian populations like HAn Chinese in the mixed mode. I have a match that gets Siberian and modeled as 97% Jordanian and 3% Mongolian.
