She is Jewish as far as I know.

Can she pass in Sicily or is her look too extreme?

She looks Jewish to me, but based on the pictures you post here, i think she would pass without problems.

This woman looks like a friend of my sister's (she has a Campanian surname). However, I go every to southern Italy every summer and I very rarely see people with such a nose.

I have seen rare examples of it (not many and I don't think her nose is typical among Ashkenazim for that matter either). I think her nose is not typical but I do think if you stuck her in a group of women like this (even with the noses not being an exact match) she would be taken for native. Second from left isn't that far off.

Looks strongly Jewish.
Could pass in Italy as atypical. Would never guess her as particularly Sicilian. Face seems to high and narrow.

Where in Italy would she pass better than in Sicily?

I don’t know. But I wouldn’t say that the regional difference between Sicily and Rest of Italy is in the direction of the type represented by that Woman.

The closest I could think to a “pseudo near eastern type” could be this Sicilian comedian. But eyes are not so high and face less long than Askenazi. Eyes are also completely different.

I definitely do think she passes but I just was wondering what others think. She probably fits in western-central Sicily more than the east.

No man, trust me she could never pass. She looks like Leonard Nimoy with an impossibly high face and small eyes.
Sicilians don’t have high faces, normal, sometimes small but proportions are different. If you cannot see that after all the pics you research?!?! It’s obvious. I can see more similarity between Sicilians and some N African and some Sicilian and some West Asians. but Askenazi very little.

No, the woman you posted doesn't pass in Sicily, and phenotypically there are no differences between the east or west of Sicily.

Some of the Sicilians you post display some similar features but usually have rounder faces and lower foreheads.
I also agree with Vigilance's remark (that's not a pure Armenoid - Dinaro-Med influence on skull is visible).
She passes as exotic Southern European (including in Sicily probably) but doesn't look specifically Sicilian.

Looks like Armenian to me, more or less. Doesn't look Sicilian, but may be able to pass as highly atypical. Something between Dinarid and armenoid and probably some large med influence. She looks extra European to me though on the whole.

Maybe not Ashkenazi but at least four could pass as Levantine to me.

But at least they are real Sicilian.
You keep posting small eyed, long faced hardcore Yiddish Bette Midler types and claim they look Sicilian. (What next Mel Brooks as a typical Trapanese?)

I think you should move your research towards “comparable types” with Med or slight Levantine common features.

It might depend on where in Sicily. I see a higher prevalence of "long faced hardcore Yiddish" Bette Midler types in Agrigento/Palermo/Caltanissetta than in other regions in Sicily and I just post disproportionately from that part of the island. I wouldn't expect to find such types in Syracuse.

I know that Sicilian and Jews have a similar genetic background (I think around 90% Neolithic Farmer ) but this doesn’t mean that they are mathematically replicants. Sicily has its history (probably the most admixed region in italy) and Jews had a completely different one.

The only Jews in film history that had convincingly passed for Italian (because I didn’t know ) were Abe Vigoda in Goodfather, and Dan Hedaya (in various gangster films). Also Wallace Shawn in “Princess Bride”. Martin Balsam also played the Italian quite well.
But that’s it. Mark Zuckerberg, or Leonard Nimoy or Gene Wilder or Jeff Goldblum would be laughable as Italian and comical as Sicilians.

So the only pattern is a common Mediterranean or Convex nosed Mediterranean also Some Dinaric Sicilians May approach a Dinaric West asian/ Armenoid.

I understand that but my point is I don't particularly think Sicilians look any more like Spaniards or say, Serbians than like Ashkenazim. I also think they look distinct from mainland Greeks.

The only people who might fit better to me than Ashkenazim would be other southern Italians of course, and Aegean islanders.
